With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of Cynthia Jaye Furey (nee Nelson) on November 27th, 2023, at the age of 64.
She was born in New Westminster, B.C. on May 14, 1959, and moved to Vancouver Island as a child. After graduating from Cowichan Secondary School in 1977, she carried on exploring and living life throughout British Columbia and Alberta; landing to live, raise her family and retire in Ladysmith, B.C.
She was a loving mother, sister, grandma (Nana) and friend. She is survived by her son Kent (Amie) and daughter Adina (Nathan) and her grandchildren Khan, Anthony and Mercedez.
She had a zest for life; she was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and her love for them was very evident. She was warm and opened her home to anyone in need, through all walks of life. She loved live theatre, gardening, great humour, fashion, history, and the beach. She was remarkable and loved sharing stories of her life. She had an honesty about her, and she never jaded any of her beliefs, she would tell you how it was. Her smile was bright and her laugh contagious and had the best wit and humour.
Her many friends and family are invited to share happy memories and to celebrate Cynthia's life on January 27th, 2024, at the Diamond Hall (4962 Christie Road, Ladysmith, B.C. - 2:00pm to 3:30pm) with a repast and Tree Planting Ceremony to follow at 5017 Christie Road.
