MELANSON, Doris Mary: Passed away peacefully on August 2, 2007, after a long battle with cancer. Born June 6, 1926, second in a family of eight children at Bathurst Mines, New Brunswick. She was trained in the field of business and lived in New Brunswick until 1954, when Rolly and Doris relocated to Ontario and then moved to Prince Rupert in 1966. A year later, they moved to Gold River to work at the newly-built pulpmill, where they remained until retirement, which prompted a move to Duncan. From there, they moved to Ladysmitih to enjoy their retirement.

Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roland Joseph Melanson. Survived by a daughter, Yolanda (Bob); two sons, Ronnie and Paul (Emily); three granddaughters Jessica (Gary), Elizabeth, and Paula; grandson, Cory and two great-grandsons, Adrian and Jordan. She is also survived by a sister, Lillian (Bud Saunders), two brothers, Hector (Dora) and Gordon LeBreton (Dorothy); and brother-in-law, Bernard Melanson (Millie) with numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

A service celebrating her life and mourning her death will be held Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 2pm at the First Memorial Society Funeral Home, 375 Brae Road, Duncan, BC. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
