EARL ALEXANDER ROWAN

June 25, 1933 – April 13, 2008

Earl passed away at NRGH with his family at his side. Predeceased by his wife Lisse, who passed away September 17, 2001, Earl is survived by his sons Chuck (Elaine) and Paul (Rie), daughter Annette DuManior, granddaughters Christine, Kyla, Sasha, Danielle and grandsons Craig and Shane. Born and raised in Nanaimo, Earl married Lisse at St. Paul’s Church on May 28, 1955. Earl and Lisse raised their three children in Nanaimo, Sandspit, Ladysmith and Comox before settling and retiring in Ladysmith. Earl was very active along the waterfront in the Nanaimo Shipyard with his father, Johnny Rowan before moving into the Forestry Industry where he rose to the position of Master Mechanic. As well, Earl was a fourth generation Mason of Ashlar Lodge where he took on the position of Master for the year 2000. Earl will be best remembered for always looking on the bright side of life. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hillside Medical Center (Ladysmith), Ladysmith Community Health Centre, NRGH, Community Rehabilitation Services (Nanaimo) and Home and Community Care (Ladysmith). Lastly, a very special thank you to Andrea and Jim McLean and Rondi and Dick Sturrock for the help and friendship they shared with Earl. Following cremation, Earl and Lisse will be interned at a Graveside Funeral on Monday, April 21st at 2:30 pm at the Nanaimo Cemetery, Comox Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
