Earleyne Mulroney (Johnson)

October 1, 2005

On the morning of Oct 1st 2005, Earleyne said she had lived a charmed life. She said she had a wonderful family; many treasured friends and had travelled the world. Her mind was clear and she was ready and unafraid. She perhaps knew better than her doctors and better than her loving and hopeful family that the further effort would be unsuccessful, so she said goodbye before going into surgery. She was born in Ladysmith, May 5 1942, and in her 63 years she was a wife to David, her devoted husband of 41 years, mother to his wonderful children David (Maria), Colleen (Chris) and Trish (Daniel) and grandmother to Nicole, Michael, Emily, Rebecca, David, Jonathan, Graeme, Stephen and Carolyn. She will be leaving behind her brother Rob Johnson (Marilyn), her nephew Miles (April), Niece Arlissa (Chris), grandnephew Sam and the many friends that she made over her short life. Earleyne was born to one of the oldest families in Ladysmith; Earleyne and David worked or travelled many places within Canada and throughout the world where she made many dear friends. In 1978 she returned to Ladysmith and operated Johnson Shoes for 13 years. She became a councillor and civic leader and one of the driving forces of Ladysmith’s revitalization in the 80’s. Quilting, bridge and the friends she made, along with her family were her passions, but she was always ready to pick up and be off traveling to some wonderful place. Now she has embarked on a journey where she will join her mother and father, Rose and Earl Johnson, who will welcome her with open arms.

All of Earleyne’s many friends are invited to join her family, not in mourning, for Earleyne had no regrets, but in a Celebration of her rich life Thursday Oct 6th at 3pm at the Eagles Hall Ladysmith. Donations to the charity of your choice in her name in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
