Dee slipped quietly away on October 16, 2003 in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital. Born in Nepean, Ontario, March 22, 1928. Predeceased by her husband Charles Lenhart in 1965, her parrents, J.B. O’Reilly (May) of Ottawa, her brother Bill in 1953 and sister Norah Moffat in 2002.

She is survived by cousin Elizabeth Larond of Ottawa as well as many cousins in the Ottawa Valley and her niece Joan Gibson O’Reilly of Whiterock, B.C., along with her children: Bob (Brenda) Gibson, Dan Gibson, Erin O’Reilly, and Katrina O’Reilly. Dee is fondly remembered by many close friends in Central Vancouver Island. Edith worked for the RCMP in Ottawa for 10 years and then CKWX Radio Vancouver until 1959 when she moved to Nanaimo, B.C. Edith married Charlie Lenhart in 1960 and lived at Seven Springs in Parksville, B.C. until Charlie’s death in 1965. She spent days writing poetry and painting and made a great impact on the arts community.

A private graveside service was held in the Memorial Gardens, Cedar, B.C. A tea to celebrate Dee’s life will be held on November 22, 2003 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Dorchester Hotel in downtown Nanaimo, B.C. Arrangements confidently assigned to Telford’s Mid-Island Memorial Services.
