FITZPATRICK, Edith Marion (nee Deeble)

November 1, 1923 - February 11, 2010

Marion passed away peacefully at UBC Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Predeceased by her former husband, Robert A. Fitzpatrick, and sister Phyllis (Earl) Sarsiat, she is survived by her daughter Shelia Fitzpatrick; sons Mark (Claire) Fitzpatrick and Brian Fitzpatrick; grandchildren Erika, Anna and Ian; sisters Mary (Doug) Cleough, Francis (John) Stewart, Anne (Howard) Valleau; and brother Harry (Dulcie) Deeble.

Marion was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Ladysmith and Chemainus, BC. She served with the Royal Canadian Air Force in England during World War II, then spent several happy years obtaining her B.A. degree at the University of British Columbia. Marion was a great walker and nature lover. She loved poetry and was a patron of the arts. She was passionate about ballet, theatre and travel. Marion held a variety of jobs including an accounting position in the engineering fi rm A.H. Lundberg during the 1980s. A memorial gathering was held at the Unitarian Church on February 19, 2010.

The family would like to thank the doctors and care staff at Dogwood Lodge, Vancouver Hospital and UBC Hospital for the care, support and comfort they gave during Marion’s struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
