JOHNSON, Frank Henry
February 9, 1925 – January 7, 2009
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frank, beloved husband of Mary for 62 years; much loved father of Ann (Derek), Paul (Josephine) and Patricia (Jim); 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, whom he loved very much.
Frank started as a cabin boy in the Merchant Marine and rose to Master Mariner before he came to Canada and joined the Federal Government as a Steamship Inspector in Newfoundland, Ottawa and Vancouver, and finally settling in Ladysmith, “the best place on earth”. Frank would cheerfully help anybody; he was considerate and kind-hearted and could fix anything (for a short time) with a bit of wire and a bent nail, much to the amusement of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed; a void has been left in the hearts of all who loved him, a kind and gentle man.
Funeral Mass Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Ladysmith. Donations in lieu of flowers, to NRGH Palliative Care Unit, or to a charity of your choice.
