Geoffrey Walter Bland, age 70, of Ladysmith BC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, surrounded by those he loved.
He was born November 21, 1947 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Walter and Olga (Scott) Bland. He graduated Holy Cross High school in 1968 and went on to a career in computer programming with Xerox and maintained an aptitude throughout the digital age.
Geoff was forever the entrepreneur, owning several businesses and working in many industries throughout his working life. He loved the Island life and made Ladysmith home for over 30 years. He enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time with friends, family, gardening and the outdoors. He was supportive to his family and friends and will be deeply missed by many in the community.
Geoff was preceded by his mother Olga (Scott) Bland, father Walter William Bland and brother Graham Scott Bland. He is survived by his brother Leslie Scott Bland, children Christina (Steven) Eckhart, Charmaine (Nick) Smith, Ashley Bland, and his grandchildren Madeline Smith, Georgia Smith, Mason Eckhart, and Lexi Eckhart as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Geoff was a devoted friend to Karen Reimer who will miss their daily chats and companionship.
Family, friends, and others whose lives were touched by Geoff are invited to the Horseshoe Inn Restaurant in Chemainus on Saturday April 21 at 1 pm to join us for a Celebration Of Life.
