KNAPPETT, GLADYS NORA (Nee Andrews)
Gladys Nora Knappett passed away May 1, 2007. She was born in Powell River on April 29, 1926. She is survived by her sons Andrew, John (Betty Ann), Glen (Elena), Gordon and daughter Katherine (Rick). Grandchildren include James, Kristina, Daniel, Martina and Claudia. Gladys grew up on Vancouver Island and spent her formative years in Courtenay, B.C. where she was an active member of the community. A participant of the Comox Mountaineering Club, a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and a competitive downhill skier in the local ski scene. She married Alan Knappett and settled in Saltair, B.C where she raised five children. She served as a bookkeeper on Saltair Recreation Commission and was a member of the Saltair Ramblers and Duncan Ladies Hiking Club. She had many passions, including leather craft, Scottish culture, dancing, amateur video, hiking, sewing, travel and most of all, her family. Gladys enjoyed meeting new people whom she treated with kindness and compassion. She had a gift for talking and greeting others as if they were a new best friend. Gladys moved to Victoria in 1996 where she was Treasurer of the Victoria Video and Film Club and a member of the Social Butterflies. In Victoria she once again made many new friends and gained their respect and love. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
By the deceased wishes there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of choice would be preferred.
