Passed away in Cowichan District Hospital January 20, 2003. Born July 21, 1911 in Ladysmith, B.C.
Predeceased by her parents Alvar and Amalia Kotilla and brothers Eino, Mauri and George. Survived by daughters Rosalind (Linda) Smith, (Alan) and Lois Russell, grandsons, Ronald (Rhonda), Raymond (Monica) and Russell, great grandchildren Tony, Nicole, Courtney, Shelby, Jacob and Hannah, sister-in-law LIlias Russell, and several nieces and nephews. Helvi lived most of her life in Ladysmith. She and Rusty were married 62 years before his death in June 2001. She enjoyed her cats, music, travelling, gardening and her many grand and great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 2:00 pm in the Ladysmith Seniors’ Centre (220 High St). She will be missed. No flowers.
