Johanna Paula Walli DIRKSEN

March 31, 1922 - February 19, 2009

It is with sadness we announce the passing of “Hanna”.

She passed suddenly and peacefully at the age of 86 years, with family at her side. Hanna was born in Breslau, East Germany to Martha and Fritz Zachen, sister to Ursula and Martin. She married Gerhard Steiner in 1942, with Reinhard being born in 1943. After Gerhard passed away in the war, Hanna married Heinrich Dirksen in 1949. They immigrated to Canada and lived in Calgary, AB where their daughters Elizabeth and Hanelore were born. They retired to Bonnyville and their dream house on Moose Lake in 1984. In 1993 they moved to Duncan. All her life she worked and lived happily for her family, and her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, the lake and flowers gave her much joy. Hanna was predeceased by her parents Fritz and Martha, husbands Gerhard and Heinrich, sister Ursula, brother-in-law Franz, and her son-in-law Guy. She is survived by brother Martin Zachen in Germany, son Reinhard (Pat) Steiner of Calgary, daughters Elizabeth (Danny) Harvey of Ladysmith, and Hannelore Rondeau (Guy-deceased) of Duncan, grandchildren Chris (Rahel) and Randy (Erin) Steiner, Dale (Jen) Harvey, Lisa (Cary) VanRyckeghem, Rachelle (Andy) Moreau, and Nathan, Joel, and Leah Rondeau, great-grandchildren Darcy, Max, Marcus, Ethan, and Natalie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The gift of her love and the happiness she shared in her caring and giving ways will be remembered and felt by many. Our sister, mother, grandma, oma, omama, tante, cousin, and friend. With each of these are many fond and loving memories, and she will be sadly missed. Thank you to Dr. Daphne Robinson for all her care over the years and to the staff at CDH. Also a heartfelt thank you to all friends and family. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 1:00 PM at First Memorial Funeral Services, 375 Brae Road, Duncan.
