November 2, 2022

November 2, 2022
In loving memory ~
John Buckner passed away peacefully on November 2, 2022 at Cowichan District Hospital (CDH). He is survived by his loving wife Billie of 64 years and his three children: Kelly (Craig), Michelle (Wayne), and Jay. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren: Bradley, Phillip, Joseph, Elizabeth, Geran & Madison, and his four great-grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Colleen and several nieces and nephews.
John was an educator for 35 years with 34 of them serving in the Chemainus / Ladysmith / Nanaimo school district.
He was an island boy and outdoorsman his entire life, enjoying hunting, fishing, and skiing with the company of family and friends. His monthly poker game with the boys gave him much pleasure. He was an avid reader, keeping the librarians busy.
The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Kutney for his care and attention, the emergency doctors and staff at CDH, and the BCEHS.
In lieu of flowers, donations to CDH would be greatly appreciated.
