Kathleen (Kay) nee: Copeland
December 7, 1913 - May 11, 2010
Mom went quietly to sleep on the night of May 11th. She was predeceased by her husband, Alec (David) Byers, in October 1989 after 52 years of marriage.
She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters Lynda (Wilke) of Mill Bay and Carol (Maklary) of Hawaii, six grandchildren and their spouses and thirteen great grandchildren.
Mom was born and grew up in the big city of Vancouver and after an active youth in sport, including a Stanley Park tennis championship, she married her local hockey “love” in 1938.
She was a wonderful Mom and Nana who would knit many a creation for all her grandbabies whom she adored with all her heart. Her lovely smile never left her even though her final years were shaded by Alzheimer’s.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Mom’s life will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church 447 Tyee Street in Duncan at 1 o’clock on Friday, May 21st.
