Laura Agnes TURNER

September 27, 2002

Laura Agnes

Born in North Bay, Ontario November 4, 1912, passed away September 27, 2002. She was predeceased by her husband Lester Gordon in 1960, her daughter Norma and son-in-law Stephen Hryniuk, and her grandson Ernest. She is lovingly remembered by her children Grace, Ernest and his wife Betty, James and his wife Ruth, and Lois and her husband Robert Gubbe; her grandchildren Cheryl Ruby and her husband Rod, Lorelei, Doug, Janis and her husband Christian, Jason, Gary, Karen, Gordon and his wife Bobbi, and Melissa; her great-grandchildren Demian, Brendan, Adam, Yves, Roxanne, Nicolas, Kaela, Jamie and Kyle; her sisters-in-law Carol, Effie and Ethel; and her nieces and nephews.

As a woman with firm convictions and solid values, she respected the privacy of those close to her and at the same time embraced us, regardless of our individual life choices, with unconditional love.

While her health allowed, she was a skillful sewer, a keen walker, and an avid reader. She had great respect for all living things. She adored her canary, Charlie, and her garden and plants, and would gently carry a spider outside to avoid causing harm.

Laura lived in Ladysmith for more than sixty years. At her request, there will be no funeral. To her many friends and neighbours, please know that our mother and her family were always grateful for your acts of kindness and thoughtfulness. We ask that when you think of Laura Turner, you recall that she was always a lady, and that in her calm, quiet, unassuming way, she touched the lives of many of you.

Laura supported the Salvation Army for its charitable work and disaster relief. Donations to your local Salvation Army Mission in remembrance of her will be greatly appreciated.
