It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a much-beloved husband, Dad and Grandpa - but it is with great pride that we ask you to share in a celebration of his life on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at 12:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chemainus, BC. A more honourable, gentle and loving family man could not be found anywhere, and we are so very lucky to have had him for 91 years. Survived by the light of his life, his wife of almost 60 years, Grace, and his devoted family; sons Lou (Jacinta), Michael (Sandra), and John (Tracy) Shelling, daughters Ann (Mike) Batie and Judy Shelling (Matthew Stainer), his adored grandchildren: Jill and Steven Batie, Shane, Reanne and Denay Shelling, A.J. and Rachel Stainer and Lenora Shelling, and his loving sister Anne Shelling of New Westminster.

A veteran of WW II and a Professional Electrical Engineer - one of the original 10 staff members at B.C.F.P., Crofton. Dad was an avid hunter, hiker and tennis player, often “embarassing” his sons and daughters on the tennis court until he was over 65 years old! His heart and home were open to all and our house was constantly filled with the love and laughter of numerous guests and friends, particularly at Christmas, when Dad “reigned supreme”, and relished entertaining everyone in his much-love green (Of course! To Dad, there WAS no other colour) Chinese smoking jacket.

Rest in peace. Our love is with you always, as yours is forever entrenched in our hearts. God bless and keep you always.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to our local Canadian Cancer Society, in gratitude for the support they provided in recent years.

Your loving wife and family.
