Mamie Tuomi, born 20 October, 1911 in Belden, North Dakota, peacefully passed away on Friday, 6 June in her 97th year. Mamie was the 2nd child born to August and Sofia Miller. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Elaine in 1943, her husband Frank in 1957, and her son-in-law Tom Strain in 1995, and also by her brothers Oscar, William, Arthur, and Frank, and her sister Viola. She is survived by her sons William (Lorraine) and Robert (Loureen) and her daughter Laila (Ken), grandsons Victor (Kate), Ed (Teri), and Stephan (Michelle), and great-grandchildren David and Maia. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing her cousin Kaisa Isojunno in Finland and sister-in-law Vieno Miller in California, nieces and nephews in Canada and the US and cousins' children in Finland.
A service in Mamie's honour will be held at 1:00 o'clock on Friday 20th June, 2008 at Telford's Memorial Chapel 112 French St., Ladysmith, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice, or to the Arrowsmith Rest Home Foundation, 266-B Moilliet St., Parksville, BC V9P 1M9 will be greatly appreciated.
