John and his family continued running the Service Station until 1971 when they moved to Ladysmith, B.C. John and his family purchased John’s Service Station and Convenience Store. John’s wife Adeline became ill with Cancer during their time in Ladysmith and battled for a couple of years before passing in 1977 at the age of 50yrs. In 1978 John moved his family back home to Millet, Alberta where he purchased an acreage and started Skyhigh Trampolines. He manufactured and sold his own trampolines until 1983. John then went to work for the County of Wetaskiwin becoming Foreman of the Road Construction Department until 1990 when he was forced to retire due to his Pulmonary Disease. In that same year John moved to Leduc, Alberta where he lived and tinkered with wood working in his garage, and occasionally welded Irrigation pipe for Big Lake Sod farm. In August 2001 John suffered a stroke and moved to Brooks, Alberta to live, where his daughter Carol could help him.
