Omer Willam VOYSEY

October 24, 2005

was born in Alan, Saskatchewan January 28, 1927, and passed away at the Chemainus Health Care Centre on October 24, 2005.

Omer was predeceased by his wife Betty in 1993, also by his brothers: Cecil and Andy and his sister Lauraine.

He is survived by his family: brothers: Dan, George (Jean), Sid (Peggy) and sister-in-law Alice, by his sons: Lin his wife Eleanor and their children: Chris and Thirza (Tim) and great grandchildren Hanna and Brady, his son Don and his wife Denise and their children: Steven (Andrea) and Carman (John); his son Terry and his wife Roberta and child Matthew: daughter Patty and her husband Brian and their children: Alexander and Adam.

Omer moved his young family to Port Alberni in 1951, working for the City and then as a driver for West Coast Freight.

The Voyseys moved to Cedar in 1958, where Omer remained until 2003. Omer stayed with the successors of West Coast Freight (Johnson Terminals, Public) until his retirement in 1987 to care for Betty. Omer was a great outdoorsman, who loved to fish, hunt, farm and camp. He gave himself to his family, his work and his community. Many young Cedar men benefited from Omer’s outdoors experience and sense of fun as their Scout and Venturer leader. Omer will be missed, but remembered for his good times.

A Celebration of Omer’s Life will be held at St. Philip’s Anglican Church Hall, 1797 Cedar Rd., Cedar, BC on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Chemainus Health Care Foundation. “Special thanks to the staff at Chemainus Health Care for the loving care given to Omer in his final stages of life.
