We lost our precious Richard in a tragic accident while riding his motorcycle on old Chemainus Road on Sunday morning February 26th.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Roxane, two beautiful daughters Cassandra (Angel) and Carly (Peanut). Mother Irene Christie, His brother Robert (Judee) niece Krista (John, Austin and Luke) niece Rachel, nephew Jacob (Trisha). His sister Denise Bigelow (Bob) niece Brayenna (Jeff and Alyas) nephew Dave. His Step Brother Stephen Christie (Donna) nephew Joe (Levi) niece Star (Tomo). Step Sister Kathy Polet (Pete) nephew Kenny (Christine and Austin) nieces Candice, Kelly (Chad). Step Brother Alastair Christie (Jo-ann) nieces April (Rob and Jayden) & Amber. Step Sister Veronica Fletcher (Scott) nieces Sasha (Brian, Nick and Damian) Melanie (Dan, Ivry and Colby) & Crystal. Predeceased by his Father Adrian Plourde and his Step Father Stan Christie.
Richard was born in Garden Bay, B.C. , spent his childhood and teenage years in Crofton. Moving to Nakusp, he met the Love of his Life Roxane, married and moved to Ladysmith in 1989.
Starting his business “Richard’s Renovations” he remodeled homes, also a love of fixing boats, he did these with pride.
Richard’s zest for life was infectious and his path in life was adventurous. The ocean was his passion. When not with his family and friends on the boat, he could be found having morning coffee at the boat launch (his office). Because of Richard’s love of the water the family plans to purchase benches in his memory at Transfer Beach and the boat launch.
