It is with deep sorrow that we wish to announce the passing of Ronald Frederick Eichler, February 3, 1938 - July 21, 2003. Ron endured a long and hard fought battle with cancer and did so with great courage, good humour and style. Ron was a unique man in that he was content with his life and did it his way. He had a deep love of family, friends, animals and the world he lived in and was always there to help anyone who needed a hand. His passing will be be felt by all who know and loved him. Ron leaves behind his wife Joy, a daughter Lynda and her husband Marty, sons Victor and his wife catherine, Allan, Roland, Eric and his wife Darlene. Chris and his wife Kim, daughters Sheena and Alane and her husband Arny. Also a daughter Megan who predeceased him November 23, 1994. He also leaves his mother Florence, a sister Betty and her husband dave and a sister kathy and her husband Doug. Also predeceased by his father Roly who passed June 25, 2003. Ron had 23 grandchildren of which two were predeceased, 15 great-grandchildren, four nieces and five nephews. Ron played a major role in all their lives. We wish to give a special thank you to “Joy” who brought such love, warmth and comfort to Ron and out family and looked after Ron with unfailing kindness, patience and good humour and helped all of us through this trying time. Also ‘thank you’ to Dr. Irvine, Dr. Fritisch and palliative care nurses Stephanie, Julia and Loraine who were so kind and caring and helped make his final days as comfortable as possible.

A special day has been set aside to honour Ron and his father Roly and to celebrate their lives, at Ron’s home in Ladysmith, on Sunday, July 27th between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 pm. All are welcome. Arrangements confidently assigned to Telford’s Mid-Island Memorial Service.
