March 29, 1932 - November 9, 2023

In loving memory ~

It is with love and sadness that we mourn the loss of a good man, Ronald Lawrence Delcourt. He passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2023 with his family by his side.

Ron was born March 29th, 1932 in Vancouver and came to Ladysmith at 6 months old. He is predeceased by his parents Victor and Ella Delcourt.

Ron was always part of the community and a willing volunteer of his time. He will be remembered for organizing the biggest Ladysmith Day parade, a giant car Bingo held at the Cassidy Drive Inn, changing "Ladysmith" Days into "Beach Ball" Days, and creating a girl's "fun" softball league.

Ron played many sports including softball, basketball, floor hockey and golf. He was a mentor to many with kind words and good advice. He had a great sense of humour and loved telling stories.

Ron loved travelling to Hawaii, Indio California, and Galiano Island, playing golf and having coffee with friends, picking wild blackberries, vegetable gardening and sharing his tomatoes, raspberries and zucchini.

He will be missed by his wife Doreen (Holmstrom), daughters Rhonda (Troy), Linda and Nancy (Rick), grandchildren Shannon Addison (Luke), Berlyn Ryan (Travis) and Jonah Ryan (Alysha), grandsons Devlin and Maddax, and many cousins.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. S. McDonald, VIHA community nurses, Cowichan Hospice House staff, and all the people who made Ron's last days most comfortable.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of choice.

A celebration of life will be held on November 29th at the Eagles Hall from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Old log loaders never die. They just run out of bunk logs.
