To our loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who touched our lives forever. Your infectious smile won the hearts of so many, right until your passing. You will be remembered for your passion of a good weekend camping, a day of golf with your friends at Mount Brenton Golf Course, playing bridge on Tuesday nights or your precious time spent with family and friends.
Shirley was born and raised in Ladysmith until graduation whereupon she entered the School of Nursing at St Joseph's in Victoria. Mom spoke fondly of her nurses training and her classmates who went on to become very treasured friends to this day.
Upon graduation Mom became a very popular Registered Nurse at Nanaimo Regional Hospital where she proudly served her patients for over 35 years, with time off to raise her 3 children. She spent most of her career as a nurse in the Post Recovery ward.
Shirley met the love of her life Hubert (Gizz) at a Saturday dance. They were married on June 21st, 1952 for 47 years until his passing in November, 1999. Shirley will be missed by her loving family, daughter, Joanne, sons Bill (Deanne), Kevin (Tammy), sister Elaine, grandchildren, Quinton, Austin, Dylan (Dayna), Kolbie (Justin) , Ryan & Great Grandson Avery, and of course her one and only 'Tuffy'.
A private family burial service will be held at Cedar Valley Memorial. We will host a Celebration of Life for Shirley in the New Year.
