Born in North Vancouver Shirley lived and worked there until she met and married Alex McAulay. Moving to Chemainus, BC she became a chartered member of the Order
of the Eastern Star,
Chemainus/Ladysmith Chapter. Shirley was also an active member of the
Kinette Club, taking part in many charitable events including the Mothers March against polio. After becoming mother to Norman and Gordon, she began working as a Practical Nurse in the Ladysmith Hospital. In 1984 she retired and enjoyed her time oil painting and working with ceramics. Shirley will be fondly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Alex, children Norman (Sheila) and Gord (Deanne), grandchildren Dan (Adele), Leia, Ron and Chelsea, great grandchildren; Chris, Riley and
Nolan. There will be a
private family service.
