Shirley passed away on December 14, 2020. She was born 1930 to Lillian and Carman Alguire, farmers in the Ashville area near Dauphin Manitoba. A graduate of the University of Manitoba. She trained at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria B.C to become a Registered Professional Dietitian.
She worked in Calgary, Kingston and Winnipeg where she met her future husband Ronald Kinney. Shirley and Ron lived in a variety of locations until they settled in St Albert in 1973 and retired to Ladysmith in 1992. She was predeceased by Ronald Kinney October 8, 2020.
Shirley was an avid gardener for much of her life, she loved cooking sewing and knitting.
For many years she volunteered at the Ladysmith Thrift Store and was a member of the local Probus club. Shirley enjoyed staying fit by square and round dancing walking and hiking. She walked in groups in Ladysmith and Nanaimo. She enjoyed walking along the ocean with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley often accompanied Ron on his project trips to many parts of the world. They lived in Africa for 4 months while Ron worked on a project. She and Ron also spent vacations in many parts of the world, on cruises and other trips.
In their early married life Shirley enjoyed camping with her family including a trip across Canada from Manitoba to Nova Scotia. She is survived by three children, Kevin, Randa (Ralph) and Philip (Tanya), three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
