Sophie passed away peacefully on May 25, 2004 at Chemainus Health Care Centre.

Born October 14, 1904 in Sifton, Manitoba. Predeceased by her husband Reginald and son Bruce.

Sophie will be remembered by her loving family, daughter Lynne (Bert) Morgan, daughter-in-law Maria, grandchildren Madelon (David) Arnold, Bruce Hubert, Sophie-Anne and Drew de Lotbiniere-Harwood; great-grandchildren Christopher, William and Spencer Peter, John Stearn (Hubert), Keisha and Zack Hubert, many nieces, nephews and friends.

The challenging road of life was met with faith, hope, courage, tears and laughter, and most of all the love of her family. Along the way, cheerful greetings, many acts of kindness and helping hands from all walks of life, both young and old, made her life memorable. Sophie was a Life Member of the Mount Brenton Golf Club, and a graduate of the Vancouver General School of nursing in 1931.

Sophie was very appreciative of the care and kindness she received from Dr. Gee, the nurses and staff of Chemainus Health Care Centre and Cowichan Lodge.

A Memorial Service wil be held at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Chemainus at 3 pm on June 5, 2004 with reception to follow in the Church Hall for family friends. Private cremation. Sophie’s ashes will be returned to the earth and her Soul will go Godward to her Maker, the Creator.

In lieu of flowers, Sophie asks that you give the gift of thanks to your family and friends. God Bless.

First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan, are in charge of arrangements.
