William Donald

Don passed away Nov. 21, 2010 at the age of 81, after a long battle with heart disease and cancer.

He was born in Bevan, B.C., and then the family moved to Ladysmith where Don finished high school. In 1952 he went to Campbell River to seek a job at Elk Falls Mill. This was the beginning of a career in making newsprint. In 1964 the family moved back to Ladysmith and Don started working at Crofton Mill.

Don is predeceased by his father William, mother Margaret (Peggy), and sister Catherine. He leaves to mourn his wife Marie, daughters Linda (Sterling) Bates and Barbara (Jim) Pickell; granddaughters: Jessica Pickell, Katie (Jordan) Thompson, and Grace Pickell; and one great-granddaughter Emily Thompson, also brother Eric (Linda).

A private family memorial service December 5, 2010.

No flowers by request, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
