Restore soccer fields around Duncan Elementary
Dear City of Duncan and Cowichan Valley School District:
For all the future generations please restore the two soccer fields around Duncan Elementary School. Paving them over with gravel and buildings is short sighted and may feel like a reasonable solution in the moment but long term is a big mistake.
Many of us grew up playing games with our families on these fields. When I was about eight years old the main field was changed from gravel to grass and the neighbourhood loved the opportunity to play games on the beautiful fields. Today if these fields were restored to their earlier glory they would invite kids and families to put down their technology and once again enjoy running around.
Our governments will change and the drug issue will get resolved along with much of the crime. Once this happens these fields need to be once again ready do be used by the families in the Cairnsmore neighbourhood. If we pave over them now we may never get them back.
