May 31 Editorial - Congrats to grads

it is that time of year again. The dresses have been picked, the tuxes have been fitted and the corsages have been ordered.

Now this month, before the crushing stress of final exams and transcripts, the Ladysmith Secondary School, Chemainus Secondary and Cedar Secondary School graduating classes of 2011 will be walking across the stage, accepting their diplomas and partying late into the night to celebrate the cliche beginning of a new chapter.

Instead of taking this space to pump you grads full of life-alerting, eye-opening advise that you are going to hear from every family member, school teacher and pretty much everyone else you see in the next few months, we’d just like to say thanks.

It has been an honour and privilege to cover the things this glad class has accomplished.

From work with the STARR program, to the members of the award-winning improv group or the groups of provincial, national and international-calibre athletes who have represented our area so well.

You have also set a fine example for the young students rising through the ranks. You have laid great groundwork and left big shoe prints to fill.

One piece of advice we will offer is to enjoy it and enjoy yourselves, there will be plenty of time to stress out once those exams roll out.

The friends and experiences you will have this week will stay with you no matter what step you take next.
