Cedar Spartans to represent at provincials this week

After placing second at the Island Championships Feb. 24-26, the Cedar Spartans will play in Prince George March 7.

The Cedar Spartans senior A girls’ basketball team will be facing off at provincials Wednesday in Prince George.

The Spartans advanced to the provincials after placing second at the Island championships Feb. 24-26 at Cedar Community Secondary School. Duncan Christian won the Island final. Cedar’s Megan Cawthorne and Cathy Jordan were chosen as tournament all-stars.

“The girls are excited to go. It’s an experience that they will remember forever and that’s the most important thing is that they’re up there having that experience. We’ll see how we manage,” said coach Launa Gannon.

“Depending on our veteran players has brought the team to those wins … The girls have come together as a team and I’m really looking forward to having them do well up there.”

The Spartans’ first game at provincials will be played against Kelowna Christian school.
