Two Cowichan Valley hockey teams are celebrating after their championship wins, Sunday, March 13.
The Cowichan Valley Warriors atom team and the Cowichan Valley Vipers novice team both won their playoffs in close and fun games.
“It was awesome,” said Warriors coach Beau DeRoy about the winning game. “We pulled it off.”
The Warriors beat the Lake Cowichan Lakers 7-5.
“It was a nail-biter,” he said.
The team hadn’t defeated the Lakers all year, he said.
“They’re a good team.”
He said the kids were pretty excited after the game.
“They were all smiles.”
The Vipers won the Novice C champs by beating the Jetts 10-4.
“The kids did a terrific job,” said Vipers coach Mike McCluskey.
“They worked hard and played a good team game.”
The playoffs were Saturday, March 5 to Sunday, March 13.
Games were held at Fuller Lake Arena, Lake Cowichan and Island Savings Centre in Duncan.
