Fernie is built on legends, which might be why it is considered an epic destination for many including those who create legacy.

David Beckham, English former professional footballer and husband of Spice Girl Victoria, did a “perfect triple somersault face plant” in the Snow Valley, this past week.

Island Lake Lodge is located in the peaks of the Lizard Range, just west of Fernie off Highway 3, it is considered a luxury catskiing destination with fine dining, spa and guest services.

Tourism Fernie confirmed over Instagram that the football superstar wasn’t just a “Ghostrider” the 48-year-old actually experienced the front and back slopes of Mt. Fernie.

Beckham was also reportedly seen in the Northern Bar & Stage for Aprés ski.

Third-time Olympic gold medalist snowboarder Shaun White even commented on Beckham’s IG post, “We’re out there.”

To which Beckham replied, “I might need a lesson or 2 .”

The U.K. football superstar’s visit comes just after the 47th annual Griz Days, a festival that celebrates the powder king - a legend who is known for bringing the best-packed snow conditions.
