Ladysmith town council will hold its first in a series of budget meetings on Nov. 2. The start to 2022 budget and the 2022–26 financial plan discussions will take place via ZOOM to accommodate a public hearing, also on the agenda.

The public hearing for proposed rezoning at 1260 Churchill Place will begin at 6 p.m. and the regular council meeting will follow. The meeting will be broadcast from city hall and anyone who is unable to participate electronically can attend in-person to provide comment on the operating budget or participate in the public hearing.

“Council wants to hear what you think about the proposed 2022 budget and financial plan and how it anticipates allocating local tax dollars for your community,” reads a news release from the town. “The details in both financial documents align with council’s 2020-2023 strategic plan and its priorities for infrastructure, community, economy and the waterfront.”

A recap of each budget meeting, the staff presentation, as well as the recorded video will be published on the town’s website. The budget portion of the meeting on Nov. 2 will focus on an overview of the town’s operating budget.

“We continue to encourage you to get involved, ask questions and let us know your thoughts. It is only through hearing from the community that we can improve and it is only through getting involved that you can be heard,” the town said.
